We are currently in the middle of third winter and I’m kind of into it. Late March weather is none of my business. Baseball is back so I am moving through this week with a smile and nothing can stop me.

BAKING

I made carrot cake cookies for the first time and I think I prefer these over a slice of actual carrot cake. The icing-to-cake ratio is just higher on this cookie so if you love icing more than cake, we have a lot in common and this is the easter treat for you. (Also what is this current obsession with people deeming desserts too sweet? Desserts are meant to be sweet. I didn’t make this rule. Grow up.)

COOKING

This sounds eating-disorder-oriented, but hear me out. I cut up rainbow carrots in the shape of shoestring fries (do they have to be rainbow? No. But weird coloured vegetables are more fun to eat. Also, I’m an ally). Add olive oil, salt, paprika and garlic powder and bake for an hour at 350. THEN I air fry them for maybe five minutes and they taste like real french fries. I’m telling you.

CRAVING

The latke tots from Modern Bread & Bagel. Truly the best in the city, makes no sense that they’re gluten-free.

EATING

The cold chicken salad from Daily Provisions is fantastic.

EXPERIENCING

I took Nathan to Kim’s Video, which remains a great place to go if you violently miss video stores.

HATING

How modern restaurants in NYC have absolutely no whimsy or elegance in their design. I got an old library book about the best recipes to come out of New York restaurants and it showed photos of some of the places (that have long since closed) and my god, the luxury of it all. Look at how beautiful some of these places were.
